Day Star Research and Ministries is a Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization devoted to dialogue with atheists, agnostics, skeptics, and science readers from all backgrounds. The organization wishes to help correct the many misconceptions surrounding the compatibility of Christianity and science — and to promote the practices of personal research to explore how science and the Christian faith can both be pursued with integrity. We endeavor to play a role in helping diminish some of the damage that the reputation of Christianity has suffered as a result of misplaced activism by groups that try to read modern science into ancient Scripture, misusing both science and Scripture (e.g., the Creation Science and Intelligent Design movements). [Examples of work published by the science journalist who founded Day Star can be viewed here.]

To assist in this effort, Day Star is offering a series of grants to Christian researchers pursuing science graduate degrees in fields such as evolutionary biology, paleontology, geology, anthropology, ecology, molecular biology, genetics, etc. Day Star has received funds from supporters specifically earmarked for these research grants. Day Star’s Board of Directors plans to fund 1 to 3 research grants ranging from $2000 to $7000. There are no strings attached; the organization simply wants to encourage more Christians to participate in the sciences and become active researchers in their fields of interest.
